Before & After Care

Planning ahead

for your Treatment

After you book your appointment, an intake form and consent will be sent to you by email. Please fill out honestly and contact me if you are unsure about anything.

To decrease the instance and severity of bruising, avoid the following prior to your treatment:

  • Alcohol for 24 hours prior and for the remainder of your day after treatment.

  • Blood thinning medications such as Aspirin and ibuprofen (Advil). Do not hold your Aspirin if you have been told to take a daily dose, but know you are more likely to bruise with injection treatments.

  • Blood thinning supplements such as Omegas, Fish Oils, and Vitamin E.

Advise us if you have a history of:

  • underlying neurological disorders

  • swallowing difficulties

  • breathing problems

Do not obtain injectable cosmetic treatments if any of the following apply:

  • inflamed or infected skin

  • hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the treatment product (egg or lidocaine allergies)

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • you have a neurological disorder such as MS or ALS

  • you are undergoing cancer treatments

After care is important and can help ensure the best possible results and minimize complications. For that reason, it is advised you do not exercise, sauna, hot tub or otherwise increase heat and circulation to your face after your treatment, so plan ahead accordingly. You should delay other facial aesthetic and massage appointments for at least a week after your injections.

Please reschedule if you are feeling unwell, there is no penalty for short notice rescheduling

I HAVE A NO-TIP POLICY :)

Getting Longer Lasting

Results

There is new research suggesting that supplementation with oral zinc for one week prior to your treatment (with food) could help increase the effectiveness AND duration of the results!! You can consider taking an oral dose of 50mg of zinc daily for 5-7 days prior to your treatment. This hot tip is especially relevant to anyone that knows their Botox doesn’t last long, or if you are approaching an age where you might start getting discounts at a museum ;)

After your Treatment

Achieving the desired outcomes from ‘tox treatments are two fold; the dose and location of the injections but also successful aftercare provided by the client. To optimize your treatment results, please first follow the Preparation Guild and the following recommendations after your treatment:

  1. Try not to actively move the injected area(s) for 90 minutes.

  2. It is important that you do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours after your treatment. Gently washing your face at the end of the day is ok.

  3. No tight fitting hats on the day of your treatment, if you received forehead injections.

  4. Do not lie down on the affected area for 4 hours post treatment.

  5. Avoid exercise, hot-tubs, saunas, and steam rooms for 24 hours post treatment.

  6. It is possible that you may experience a headache and flu-like symptoms for approximately 24–48 hours. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be taken for relief. This is most common if this is your very first treatment, ever.

  7. The redness and marks on the treated areas will likely disappear within a few hours after treatment.

  8. There is a slight risk of bruising that may last up to one week. This is always temporary and can easily be covered with makeup. If this occurred, ice the area repeatedly for 15 mins in the hours that follow your treatment and avoid alcohol, aspirin, and ibuprofen. I have disposable ice packs on hand if this is a concern.

  9. Neuromodulators can start to take effect 3-5 days post treatment, with the full effect after 2 weeks. If you feel that you would desire more relaxation of the muscles treated, we will address this at your two week follow up appointment. Complimentary touch-ups are only offered to the treated areas and only with 28 days of your initial treatment.

  10. To achieve optimal results, you will need to repeat neuromodulator treatments when you notice recurrent muscle activity and crinkling of the skin. It is ideal to wait at least 2.5 months before treating the same area again. This way we achieve a more balanced and complete result compared to frequent “top-ups”.

  11. Ignoring aftercare instructions puts the toxin at risk of migrating and affecting a non-targeted muscle. This can result in complications like a dropped eyebrow, eyelid, or uneven smile. There is no reversal agent for neurotoxin and the desired or undesired effects may last for weeks or months.

  12. Please report any complications or contact me with any questions - happy to help!
