Considering Botox? Start with Frown Lines
Also Known As the “11’s” or the Glabella Complex
If you’ve been curious about trying Botox but aren’t sure where to start, treating the glabella complex—commonly known as frown lines or “11’s”—might be the perfect introduction. This area, located between your eyebrows, is one of the most popular starting points for Botox treatments and offers several benefits for first-timers.
Why Treating Frown Lines is Ideal for First-Timers
• Low Risk for Complications
Botox in the glabella complex is a well-studied, safe, and highly predictable treatment. When performed by a skilled and licensed professional, the risk of complications is extremely low, giving you peace of mind.
• Subtle and Natural-Looking Results
Treating this area provides a refreshed and relaxed appearance that enhances your look in a way that feels effortless. Most people won’t notice you’ve had anything done—they’ll just think you look happier and more relaxed.
• Improves Your Emotional Expression
Frown lines can unintentionally make you appear angry, tired, or stressed, even when you’re feeling your best. Botox softens these lines, helping your outward appearance match how you feel inside.
• Prevents the Deepening of Lines
Starting early can stop frown lines from becoming deeply etched. Once they form static wrinkles (lines visible even when your face is at rest), they’re much harder to treat. Preventing them is far easier than reversing them.
• Essential for Forehead Treatment
If you’re considering treating forehead lines in the future, addressing the glabella complex is often required. Relaxing the muscles in this area creates balance and prevents unwanted movement in other areas of the face.
• Does Not Affect Functionality
Treating the glabella complex doesn’t change your ability to express yourself naturally or perform daily facial movements, making it a comfortable starting place for nervous first-timers.
How Much Botox Will You Need?
The amount of Botox needed for frown lines varies depending on factors like muscle strength and sex:
• For Women: Most treatments for the glabella complex require around 20 units of Botox.
• For Men: Men often have stronger muscles in this area, so a single treatment typically requires 30–35 units.
With my current rate of $7.50 per unit (plus GST), you can expect:
• Women’s Treatments: Around $150 (+ GST)
• Men’s Treatments: Around $225–$263 (+ GST)
These are general guidelines, and during your consultation, we’ll determine the exact amount needed to achieve your desired results, and if you need more, touch-up’s are always complimentary. Go to SERVICES to find current pricing.
What to Expect During and After Treatment
The procedure itself is quick—just a few minutes—and involves a few tiny injections. You may experience mild redness or swelling immediately after, but this usually resolves within an hour. Full results appear within 7–14 days and last about 3 months. Duration of effect is very individual, is dose dependant, and cannot be guaranteed. This is discussed during your consultation.
